As a duo of passionate artisan kiltmakers, we take great pride and care in individually handcrafting each and every one of our creations, ensuring that it meets our quality standards. We really appreciate your patience, and we will always strive to deliver your order in a timely manner. If you have a special event or date in mind, we kindly request that you inquire before making a purchase to confirm whether we can accommodate your needs.

To provide you with a general guideline, please find below the estimated processing times for our different product categories:

Bespoke kilts:

Our bespoke kilts are our core product, and what we take the most pride in making. We understand the anticipation and excitement surrounding the creation of a bespoke kilt, and we strive to deliver a garment that surpasses your expectations! These exceptional pieces require an extensive amount of time and attention to detail. From discussing specific details to choosing design elements such as your tartan or tweed, pleating style and design, and finishing touches, we go above and beyond to ensure your kilt is truly one-of-a-kind. The meticulous crafting process alone takes a minimum of 35 hours, not including the time spent on emails, discussions, and appointments with you. Please note that due to the intricate nature of these kilts and our commitment to excellence, our current lead time may vary, generally ranging from 3 to 6 months. Please note that our kilts cannot be returned or exchanged, and will only be delivered in person, after your final fitting appointment.

Ready-made items:

For ready-made items (necklaces, key rings), please allow 2-5 business days for processing and shipping your order.

Bespoke and made-to-order accessories:

For our, bespoke and made-to-order accessories (scarves, shawls, bow ties…), please allow a minimum of 2 weeks for us to order your cloth, and make your order. The actual processing time may vary based on the availability of your chosen tartan and our current workload.
Please note that made-to-measure items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Our made-to-order skirts require a minimum lead time of 4 weeks for us to order your cloth, and make your order.. The actual processing time may vary based on the availability of your chosen tartan and our current workload.
Please note that made-to-measure items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Shipping services:

We want to provide you with flexibility when it comes to shipping your order. For most items, we offer two shipping options. During the ordering process, please select your preferred service. If you require custom shipping options such as a private carrier or express delivery, kindly reach out to us before making your purchase, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

  • Standard Service: We offer First Class service for orders within the UK and International Standard service for the rest of the world. Please note that these services do not include a tracking number. If you choose this option, please be aware that once your parcel has been posted, we won’t be able to locate it in transit.
  • Tracked Service: Or, opt for our Tracked Service to receive a tracking number, allowing you to conveniently track the progress of your order throughout its journey.

Customs and taxes:

International orders (including the EU):
Customers outside of the United Kingdom are responsible for any applicable taxes, handling fees, or customs charges upon the arrival of their orders. These charges are beyond our control and may vary depending on the destination country. Customs policies also change over time, particularly since Brexit for orders sent to the EU.

To obtain accurate information regarding customs fees, we recommend contacting your local tax or customs office. In the event that an order is refused at delivery, Auld Alliance Kiltmakers will issue a refund once the items are returned and received. Please note that the refund will not include the initial shipping fees. Additionally, please be aware that bespoke items cannot be returned or refunded.

As we will be working away from our atelier for a few weeks, any order placed After the 5th of June will be processed and shipped from the 4th. of July on our return.
