About Ross tartan :
This tartan is the hunting weathered variation of Clan Ross tartan. The Rosses take their name from the Province of Ross and in the Highlands are called Clan Andrias, or “Children of Andrew”, from an early chief who is said to have been a devotee of St Andrew.
This particular tartan was used in the TV Show Outlander to make the dress that Claire wears at the gathering in Castle Leoch.
To make your made-to-measure Ross tartan skirt, we will need 3 measurements : your waist measurement, your hip measurement, and the desired length of your skirt.
We will give you a choice to provide your measurements yourself, or to organise a 15 min video call with us to confirm your measurements together.
In any case, please fill in the form below, with your preferred option. You are welcome to provide estimated measurements, even if you do want to benefit from our help during a video call.
Here are a few tips if you want to take and provide your measurements yourself:
– Your waist measurement : This is the most important measurement. On most people, these skirts look best worn rather high on the waist, at the narrowest part of your torso. This is where we advise you to take your waist measurement. After you have located your waist, take a tape measure, and bring it all the way around your body. Make sure it is straight and not too tight. Check the number on the tape just after you exhale, as you want to be able to breathe comfortably.
– Your hip measurement : take your hip measurement with the tape measure around the fullest part of your hip/seat. Your skirt will not be fitted around your hips, but this measurement will help us choose the best size of zipper.
– The desired length of the skirt : For this measurement, it is essential to ask for someone’s help to get the correct length. Stand straight, look forward. The person helping you should go back to your waist (where you measured earlier) and start measuring from there down to the desired length. This skirt shape looks best when made to midi or maxi-length, as the skirt flares out from the waist: the longer, the fuller! We advise to have it made as long as somewhere between mid-calf and your ankle.
